Artist Notes: Ethel's barn is all that remains of the Blasdel farm. Ethel was a strong woman with a loving heart, and she loved her place in the beautiful lower valley of the Flathead. She wrote the following poem in her later years. It reflects the peace and contentment that is a rare thing in our complicated world of today: I look out my kitchen window, and everything I see, Are gifts that God has given, To my family and me. The mountains they protect us, the lake it shines so bright, and when the barn is full of hay, then everything's all right. I look out my kitchen window, watching for the ones I love, then we'll sit down at our table, and thank our Father from above. Ethel Blasdel
