Taken from "Recipes & Remembrances" a project by St. Ann's Council of Catholic Women, 2004 Somers, Montana, is a quaint little town locatd at the north end of beautiful Flathead Lake. Somers was once a company town alive with its brass band, baseball team, sawmill, pool hall, bank, community hall, and stores. These things are part of the past, but Somers remains as a friendly community in a beautiful setting-a wonderful place to live. A large part of Somers" history is St. Ann's Church, built in 1904 by Father Henry Arts who was pastor at St. Matthews in Kalispell. St. Anne's was dedicated by Bishop J.P. Carroll on Oct. 29, 1905. The land was deeded to Bishop Carroll by the John O'Brien Lumber Company. A hundred years later, the congregation joined with Bigfork in a new church, and this landmark in Somers is destined to become an apartment building.
