"Beaverhead Rock" -- Journal Detail
Beaverhead Rock -- Journal Detail

Notes from the Artist:

Shown in this detail, is my version of the handwriting of Merriwether Lewis. It is an excerpt from the August 8, 1805, entry of his journal describing Sacagawea’s comments when she sighted this familiar landmark in Montana. Her last time past would have been on the trip to the buffalo taken by her tribe when she was 10 or eleven. That was when she was captured by the Mandans and taken to live with them in North Dakota.
